(EXPERIENCE) Connect With You: Dealing With Regret

One of the greatest tragedies that I can think of is reflecting on yourself and feeling regretful.

'I wish I did this instead of...'

'I wish I told this person how I REALLY felt...'

'I wish I could have done...'

We all experience regret at some point in our lives, and it is at this point that we should look deep into our feelings and question why we walked down a path that we knew deep down couldn't accommodate for our needs and wants.

Every day that we are gifted with is an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and our truest, deepest desires and wants. We spend all day trying to impress the same people that evidently do not deserve our energy because they give nothing in return. We spend time developing relationships with these people instead of taking the time to delve deep and meet the purest version of ourselves, unfiltered from what exists outside our being, outside of our expectations.

The world that we experience is a result of the feelings and attitudes that are manifested deep inside of us - sadly, we never become aware of this and if we do, we tend to try and ignore its existence.

Why do you think and feel a certain way, and how is this impacting your life and your decisions?

The road of knowing ourselves is a lifelong journey and can be painful and challenging but what occurs after darkness is light. We often reside in the darkness of our shell without ever becoming aware of the light switch that is just above or below us depending on your personal views.

Start connecting with you today and see how it affects your relationships and decisions for the better. Regret is inevitable, but the journey that we undergo as a result of reflecting on this regret is a choice - a choice that only you can make.

What Is Masculinity?

It has recently become an interest of mine to explore the question “what is masculinity?”. Masculinity has long been associated with power, dominance, and authority but often, these components are in reference to   particular groups of people. Generally speaking, the most common form of masculinity is embodied by white, middle class and usually heterosexual men. This is sometimes referred to as "hegemonic" masculinity (although the term and it's ideas are  a lot more complex once you read further in to it).  There are however many other forms of masculinity that identifying men use to express themselves. Mas culinity, like most forms of social identity is  performative – this means that as men we perform masculinity in reference to what we think best embodies or defines the term. So to clarify, whilst hegemonic is largely viewed as the dominant form of masculinity, it is not the only form that exists.  Often though, men try to emulate dominant i...
